As Government Affairs and Advocacy Advisor, Will Hensley leads IFES’s strategic relationship to the U.S. government in Washington, D.C., both on Capitol Hill and throughout the Executive Branch. In this role, Will works closely with IFES program teams and the Center to communicate our impact to government stakeholders and elevate the visibility of our work.  

Prior to joining IFES, Will spent 20 years working at the intersection of advocacy, policy, and communications in Washington, D.C. and Brussels, Belgium. Most recently, he served as an Election Mail Specialist with the U.S. Postal Service, where he supported historic efforts to process and deliver the nation’s Election Mail and pass the Postal Service Reform Act. He also served in the Washington and Brussels offices of Bayer Corporation, where he managed U.S., E.U., transatlantic government affairs and global stakeholder relations for its agricultural division, Bayer CropScience. Early in his career, Will was a Legislative Assistant for Congressman Cal Dooley (D-CA). He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the American University and lives in Washington with his wife and two children.
