Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities, held on December 3, commemorates the human rights of persons with disabilities. The theme for this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities is “Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.” In 2018, IFES partnered with disabled people’s organizations in every region of the world to develop new tools and approaches to empower people with disabilities to participate in political life.

The Agate Rights Defense Center for Women with Disabilities, with the support of IFES and the United States Agency for International Development, has published new research on the barriers to and opportunities for political participation of women with disabilities in Armenia.

IFES Supports Political Participation of Armenians with Disabilities
IFES is collaborating with Armenian civil society and government stakeholders to increase access to the political process. This support is provided in the framework of the Global Disability Rights Now! program, a consortium led by Mobility International USA, that also includes IFES, the Disability Rights Education Defense Fund and the U.S. International Council on Disability.

The Global Disability RightsNow! consortium, which the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is a member, is launching a new resource website for disability rights advocates in Armenia, Kenya, Mexico, Vietnam and other places around the world.

Armenia: 1995 On-Site Technical Assistance
This report summarizes observations made by IFES reporters in Armenia in regarding national assembly elections in July 1995. The report also discusses the simultaneous referendum on a new Armenian Constitution. The report details several amendments to the constitution, including clauses regarding human rights, voting districts and ballots. The report discusses the electoral and voting processes and concludes with recommendations for future elections and democracy assistance.

Armenia National Survey, August 1996, Analysis of Findings
This report summarizes the findings from a nation-wide IFES conducted survey in Armenia in 1996. The questionnaire covered a multitude of subjects including Armenian views towards NGOs, political parties, political institutions and officials and past voting experience. The ultimate goal of the survey was to collect information regarding Armenians views on issues of democracy.
